The European Union (EU) is threatening action against Iran for jamming satellite broadcasts into the country.
European nations have accused Iran of electronic interference to block satellite broadcasting, censor the internet and intercept text messages.
In a joint statement the EU’s 27 member nations said nearly 70 foreign radio and television stations that broadcast into Iran were jammed last month on the anniversary of the Islamic revolution.
Britain’s foreign secretary David Milliband says Iran’s actions show how much it fears its own people hearing the truth about what is happening in the country.
Some EU nations want restrictions on the sale of technology to Iran that can be used for repression or censorship.
