German federal prosecutors announced today that they had filed charges against two men suspected of illegallynuclear_iran_1-300x204

providing Iran with equipment that could be employed in the production of long-range, nuclear capable missiles, Agence France-Presse reported.

The case brought last month claims that the two suspects — identified only as Iranian national Mohsen A., 52, and German-Iranian citizen Behzad S., 49 — violated EU and U.S. rules against exports of this kind.

The United States and the European Union first enacted the regulations based on their suspicion that Iran was trying to produce nuclear weapons. Tehran has dismissed these accusations.

Mohsen A. was arrested in October and Behzad S. is not in custody, prosecutors said.
