Iran Digs Graves for US Troops to Avert an Attack

10 Aug 2010 (Indian Express) Tehran – An Iranian news agency has posted video on its website of what it said were mass graves dug ready for any invading forces. The shaky images, accompanied by ominous music, show row after row of large trenches, in an unpopulated desert area.grave_for_americans_solders_in_Iran

The video was posted on the semi-official Fars news agency’s website, but there was no indication of when the film was made.

The deputy commander of the Revolutionary Guard, Gen Hossein Kan’ani Moghadam, said graves for any attacking US troops have been dug in Iran’s southwestern Khuzestan province, where Iran buried Iraqi soldiers killed during the 1980-88 war between the Islamic republic and Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein’s regime.

“The mass graves that used to be for burying Saddam’s soldiers have now been prepared again for US soldiers, and this is the reason for digging this big number of graves,” Moghadam said, according to Fars news agency.

Moghadam, however, said American troops would likely not be able to set foot on Iranian soil, repeating warnings that Iran will retaliate against US bases in the Gulf if there is an attack on Iran.

The US and Israel have both said they do not rule out a military strike on Iran to prevent it getting a nuclear weapon.
