The Iranian authorities have secretly carried out the death sentence against the two Ahwazi Arab activists, Ali Aljebeshat and Khalid Al-Moussawi. The execution carried out by the Iranian authorities despite many International appeals including experts and rapporteurs of the United Nations and Amnesty International, which had demandaed that Iran stop the executions.
The Iranian Intelligence Service in the city of Ahwaz, had informed the families of the activists, Thursday morning of June 12, 2014, without mentioning the date of execution, but they have allowed them to access the burial place under high security.
The detainees, Khalid al-Musawi and Ali Aljebeshat, were transferred from prison to an unknown location since May 22 last year. They had been arrested in 2012 by the Iranian intelligence service falsely accused of bombing the oil pipes in the Shush. Detainees were exposed during their detention to various forms of torture in order to take the forced confessions.
On June 26, 2013, the English speaking Iranian network, Press TV, broadcasted a film about the confessions of the accused, before their appearance in court. They confessed that they had committed acts of violence. Though, in court they had denied by telling the judge that the confessions were forced to them as a result of two months of continuous torture.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the 21st of May 2014, by four of the UN experts Ahmed Shaheed the Special Rapporteur of the United Nations on the Iranian issue, Christopher Heinz the Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, Rita Isaacs expert on Minority Affairs and Gaberiela Knwal. The four have ordered the Iranian government to stop the death sentences against the activists Khaled al-Musawi and Ali Aljebeshat immediately. They have also demanded that the detainees to have fair trial and allowing visitations by their families and international organizations.
