Ahwaz Issue to Feature Prominently at the First European Democracy Assembly

As part of its ongoing efforts to internationalize the Ahwaz cause, the Democratic Solidarity Party of Ahwaz (DSPA), together with the Ahwaz Human Rights Organization, will actively participate in the First European Democracy Assembly, set to take place in the coming days on the island of Ventotene, Italy. The event will gather leading political and human rights figures from across Europe and beyond.

According to DSPA, Wijdan Abdulrahman, member of the party’s Political Bureau, is scheduled to deliver a keynote address. His speech will shed light on the difficult conditions faced by the people of Ahwaz under discriminatory and repressive policies, while calling on the international community to support their right to freedom, justice, and democracy.

DSPA described its participation in this Assembly as a strategic step at a critical moment, emphasizing the importance of strengthening ties with European institutions and bringing the voice of the Ahwazi people to democratic and human rights platforms worldwide.

Notable participants at the Assembly include:

• Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament

• Shirin Ebadi, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate

• Yulia Navalnaya, Russian opposition leader

• Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, Belarusian opposition leader

• Oleksandra Matviichuk, Nobel Peace Prize and Sakharov Prize Laureate

The Democratic Solidarity Party of Ahwaz reaffirmed that its presence at this forum reflects its ongoing political and legal struggle to raise international awareness of the Ahwaz cause and to link it with the broader democratic and freedom movements of oppressed nations around the world.
