Resolution of the Third Conference of Council of Democrats of iran

We, the undersigned, united members of the Council of Democrats of Iran (CDI or the Council), are holding an emergency conference on 8 February 2020 in Stockholm, Sweden.

This conference is held while the political, economic and social conditions of our country are increasingly deteriorating and the socio-political order is failing. The massive social crises caused by the corruption of the state apparatus, the fast-economic decline, and the Islamic Republic’s militaristic policies in the Middle East and its interference in the neighboring countries of the region, is adding fuel to the fire.

The intensification of proxy wars and the suppression of popular protests and social movements with the most violent inhumane methods – have created a grim impasse for the regime.

The Islamic Republic’s expansionist policies abroad are against the interests of our peoples and against the interests of neighboring countries and nations as well.

Dear countryman:

The Islamic Republic’s totalitarian regime which relies on exploiting crisis, war, hatred and divisions in our own country and across the Middle East have become an urgent problem. Absence its overthrow – this problem will remain unsolved.

The revolt and the social uprisings of the Iranian peoples and other nations occupied by Iran like Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen clearly show the extent of their hatred of the Islamic Republic. The regime’s policy of exporting its revolution and imposing it on other nations; together with smuggling weapons and drugs by the Quds Force, has created animosity in the domestic and international arenas resulted in global insecurity . .

The massacre of more than 1,500 demonstrators in November 2019 throughout Iran and the downing of a Ukrainian passenger plane with 176 passengers from different countries are just the latest example of the sheer anti-human character of the mullahs’ regime in Tehran. Peace

The Islamic Republic has been the source of war and the cause of the crisis in the Middle East and the world. Therefore, peace and security will not be realized as long as this regime exists – thus its fall is imperative. In these critical and decisive situations, the Council of Iranian Democrats offers the following positions to unite all forces for the removal of the regime:

1. Call upon all Democratic opposition forces who see and believe the needs to address the current situations to be prepared to fight for the removal of the tyrannical regime of the Islamic Republic and organize themselves in a united front to achieve democracy and social justice in Iran.

2. The aim of the “Council” is to stand united in support and solidarity with the democratic opposition movement of the Iranian peoples including the student teachers, workers, peasants, the environmental movements and others. The Council sees this as a historical necessity to save the country.

3. The Council believes that without the overthrow of the Islamic Republic, it is impossible to fulfill any of the wishes and goals of the Iranian peoples.

4. The Council believes that the only way to form a broad coalition is to develop a common platform acceptable to all in order to solicit and gain the support of the free and progressive nations, peoples and countries in cooperation’s with the international institutions and communities for their support for non-violent removal of the Islamic Republic by its own peoples and through a smooth transition to democracy.
